Karsenics Cookie and Tracking Notice
Effective Date: September 27, 2026 · Last Updated: September 27, 2026
The short version. The public pages of karsenics.com set no cookies. We count visitors with Google Analytics running with its storage turned off, so nothing is stored on your device. We do not run advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell anything about you.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels. This notice covers all of them and calls them all cookies.
2. What we use, on karsenics.com
| Category | What it does | Set by | Roughly how long | Can you turn it off? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | One sign-in cookie, set only for Karsenics staff who sign in to our private guides area. Ordinary visitors never receive it. The contact form also keeps the name of the page you came from in session storage until you send the form or close the tab | Karsenics | Session | No. The staff guides area will not work without it |
| Analytics | Counts visits and pages viewed, so we can see which pages are useful. Analytics storage is turned off, so it sets no cookie and stores no identifier on your device | Google Analytics, property G-7M8FW7R45R | Nothing is stored | Yes, see Section 5 |
We do not use: advertising or retargeting cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, social media tracking widgets, session recording or heatmap tools, or fingerprinting.
3. What we use, on the Karsenics platform
Registration pages and the administrative console use strictly necessary cookies only: session cookies that keep you signed in, security cookies that protect against request forgery, and cookies that hold your place in a multi-step registration so you do not lose your work.
There is no analytics or advertising tracking on registration pages. People registering for a community event are not a marketing audience.
4. What the analytics data tells us
In aggregate, not about you individually: how many people visited, which pages they read, roughly what region they were in (which Google works out from your IP address), what kind of browser and device they used, and where they arrived from. Because nothing is stored on your device, Google receives these as basic signals with each page load rather than by recognizing you from one visit to the next. We use it to decide what to write and what to fix. Google's own handling of this data is described at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Turning it off
In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and block scripts in its settings. Blocking Google Analytics does not affect the site.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information. Since we do not sell or share personal information, the practical effect is that there is nothing to opt out of, but the signal is respected.
Google's opt-out. Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics across every site that uses it, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
6. Why there is no cookie banner
Karsenics serves a United States audience, sets no cookies on its public pages, uses no advertising or cross-site tracking, and does not sell or share personal information. Under United States state privacy laws, notice in a policy like this one is the common and accepted approach for a site like this. If Karsenics ever markets to visitors in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, a consent banner comes before that happens and this notice changes with it.
7. Changes
We may update this notice. The date at the top changes when we do.
